Well, according to Staples, that's at least true for parents of school-aged children.
That's right, folks, it's September! Boots and fall clothes make a reappearance (thank God!), office supply stores get raided and kids head back to school...if BC sorts itself out, that is. Anyway...I personally love this time of year! Even as a school-hating adolescent, I was always excited by the idea of the new school year and the crisp smell of autumn and getting back into a routine and pumpkin lattes. You'd get to buy a brand new set of pens to go into your brand new case, and though - like bobbypins - you knew you were only a couple months away from magically misplacing all 150 of your value pack of pens, it was a nice way to start out.
Now, while I'm not heading back into school this September, I am trying to embrace the feeling that something new is starting! It's time to get my game face on, stick my nose in a book, put pen to paper and study. Acting is a tough career, and it takes a lot of perseverance and self-motivation. I want to challenge myself this month to find the joy in the learning everything I can about my craft and industry. And I want you to join me!
Not only do I think it's important to keep on the up and up with the goings-on of the film and tv and audition world, but I think it's also important to recognize what makes us feel whole as people. There must be other things outside of acting that you desire to learn more about, to try on. I know I have them. So this month will be about finding that balance. This "semester", major in acting...but minor in something completely different!
I'm looking forward to getting started, taking on the task of learning something new every day and always challenging myself to work harder and be better. I really hope you're feeling the motivation too! With each new experience we encounter, we can't help become better actors. So let's help push each other and inspire one another!
Happy Back to School time everybody - let's get this going!
